Shark Liver Oil has been used for centuries in Scandinavian countries, particularly by fishermen, who took it as a remedy for slow healing wounds and to soothe irritated respiratory organs. For the last 40 years, researchers have discovered and studied a group of immunochemical in shark liver oil known as “alkylglycerols” that are the key immune stimulants in mother's milk. Alkylglycerols are found in much lower levels in the bone marrow, liver and spleen. The highest concentration of alkylglycerols has been found in the liver of deep-water sharks. Research has shown that alkylglycerols stimulate white blood cells, macrophages and platelets, and acting as immune system boosting agents. As a natural bacteria fighter, alkylglycerols are able to stimulate Helper T-cells which activate the bacteria-eating macrophage cell, allowing the body to destroy the bacteria. Our shark liver oil is processed from the livers of sharks found in the waters off the coast of Norway. Each 500 mg gelcap is purified and standardized to provide 100 mg of alkylglycerols.
